Having a Growth Mindset is essential for work, and home life!
Growth Mindset:
Growth mindset is an attitude that believes a person’s abilities aren’t innate but can be improved through effort, learning, and persistence. People with a growth mindset view challenges and setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow, and they believe that with enough work, they will succeed. Growth mindset is all about the attitude with which a person faces challenges, how they process failures, and how they adapt and evolve as a result.
Examples of growth mindset include:
- Taking small steps each day toward your goals.
- Getting out of your comfort zone.
- Rolling with the punches.
- Seeking out new perspectives.
- Believing that it’s never too late to learn.
- Appreciating constructive criticism.
- Always trying to improve at something.
- Modeling your work after others who have been successful in the past.
- Asking yourself what you can do better next time to make something work.
Fixed Mindset:
People with a fixed mindset believe individual traits cannot change, no matter how much effort you put in, and are more likely to:
- Believe intelligence and talent are static.
- Avoid challenges to avoid failure.
- Ignore feedback from others.
- Feel threatened by the success of others.
- Hide flaws so as not to be judged by others.
- Believe putting in effort is worthless.
- View feedback as personal criticism.
- Give up easily.
Now that you know the difference between a Growth Mindset and a Fixed Mindset, pay attention to this in your daily life, and daily challenges…even in your workplace.
